Reminton MD, MBA, CEO

My name is Remi and I am a pure breed Weimaraner and I was born the day after 9/11 on September 12, 2015.

Dr. Shafer and Remy at Vero Beach Neurology

A patient Advocate Service Dog

I say I was fortunate because normally the breeder that owns my Mom typically only allows her puppies to go to show and working owners. You see, my Mother was an American National Champion, my Father European Grand Champion, and all my siblings are now winning shows all over the world.

However, I have the best job in the world and I am winning patients over every day. I have learned to be a patient advocate service dog and I come to the office with my dad Dr. Shafer on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week to see patients with him. I love very much seeing my patients and they love seeing me. I remember everyone, and I like to make them feel better when they come to the office. It’s a job I love.

Remi, Moonstones Keeper of Freedom

My training began very early. Even when I was born, I was subjected to Early Neurological Stimulation therapy. You can check out what this is on the internet. But let’s just say it has permanently shaped me to be calm and easily trainable. Dr. Shafer, “dad” is my primary trainer and we have worked many hours together preparing me for the rigors of be a “Dogtor.” I have also trained with the K-9 Baden dogs of Canada. These are highly trained military dogs that do missions with our Navy SEAL teams all around the world. Nothing to say about these guys and gals except that they are bad ass and I sure learned my manners around them.

I hope to meet you someday soon and if you need a head to scratch or a pair of soft ears to rub, I will be there for you. I plan very soon to have my own Instagram account and look for my monthly “The Dogtor Is In” newsletter that will give valuable and educational information about the important research Dr. Shafer is doing and the latest on a variety of neurological conditions how they are treated along with the signs and symptoms of what to look out for.
